- Chess Tips
- The Path To becoming
a chess master.
-
- 1. Learn chess, legal
moves. Piece values. All chess players have to start at
the beginning. our book
How To Play Chess teaches all.
-
- 2. Learn fundamental
chess knowledge. In this stage of development we may
consider castle safely, Pawn structure, Development,
Space Coverage, Passing Pawns, Learning to use all your
pieces in harmony. karpov is very good at this. And so
on until all basics are understudy.
-
- 3. Advanced
Fundamentals. This stage is important we one learns
things like keeping the pressure on your opponent
instead of running out of steam. You learn to strengthen
your chess plans. You learn when and when not to trade
of pieces.
-
- 4. Learning from trial
and error. the only way to play at your best is to learn
from each game you play. Some chess players never reach
this far in knowledge and thus never get very far in
chess. But the top players do study there own games
allot. Its a way of finding all the defects in our chess
thinking so that we can stop the kind of mistakes we are
making regularly from happening again. Over the up and
coming games we are hoping for big improvements.
5. Experience and Pattern
Recognition. This comes only after playing many games where
you recognize patterns in a game of chess with out having to
think so much. You become wiser and more intuitive.
7. Chess Opening Knowledge. One
should master an opening and learn to survive other
openings. So that in the mid game your almost always in a
very good position to play from. A good position to attack
from.
Alekhine
had an ability to get him self in positions where he could
successfully attack. He unlashed dramatic combinations. Its
not uncommon for club players to reach such good positions
but when they play GM there often kept at arm's length.
never the less its the first main aim of any chess game. And
its always good to have an early goal in mind. To achieve
threatening king attack possibilities. To gain a good
position where you are safe and can launch an attack from.
Also its in the opening
where you get the chance to knock your opponent into areas
he's not used to. By making things complex your putting the
pressure on your opponent. Your opponent wants a comfortable
mid-game position and your trying to stop that. This idea is
not with out its risk though. Sometimes you land a good
position and sometimes you don't. Knowledge of opening traps
and lures is good to have as well. The book
Powerful Chess Opening Play deals with all this.
- 6. Master Chess
Searching, Variations and Accuracy. Most have no idea
how many chess errors in there search they make. because
each move on a chess board they search and then move
with out ever checking if there searching was correct
and way of. Its very common for chess players even good
ones to spend a life time never learning this method.
And for a life time they will make a trillion mistakes
with out even realizing it. Grandmasters on the other
hand employ this method and they have a way of
developing there skills to the highest level. The book
Think Like A GrandMaster deals with this subject.
And if you believe your already good enough think again.
This book as a way of showing you just how wrong you
are. It then helps you develop correctly.
EXTRA Tips
- 7. Use ear plugs in
noisy tournaments. In room with snoring friends. LOL. No
joke some GM use them all the time claming it boosts
concentration levels.
8. Opening preparation before
a tournament. personally I believe in having a clear head
before you play. And the idea of just
not playing a bad move in the opening is good enough to
guarantee a good mid game position, no matter how prepared
your opponent is. Reading a book before a competition
can help.
- Chess Goals. With
out hading too much to this next section I'd like to
outline the basic goals that you should apply in each
area of chess..
- Playing The Opening.
Make things complex. Aim for a position that fevers you.
Make sure you land a good position to play and attack
from by the mid-game. Achieve either threatening king
possibilities, or a position where you are safe and can
launch an attack.
- Playing The
Mid-Game. ideally its a case of building up presser and
throwing pieces around the enemy king. Although most of
the time its simply a case of finding a line of play
that favors you. A case of planning and re-planning.
Working to gain small advantage and then to making it
bigger. The one who as the advantage as to act fast for
fear opponent will close your advantage. Don't make any
mistakes. Don't miss anything.
